Grateful Parents Establish Lasting Legacy

Grateful Parents Establish Lasting Legacy
When Scott Schweickert (Class of 2010) graduated from high school, he dreamed of playing major league baseball. He wasn't focused on his studies. His father, Doug, classified him as a "marginal" student. His passion to play baseball brought him to Augustana and that changed his life. Unfortunately, after two surgeries, he had to surrender his dream. Faced with an uncertain future, he encountered several dedicated faculty members at Augustana who took a personal interest in him and motivated him academically. As a result, Scott became an excellent student and writer, graduated with honors, and attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Now admitted to practice law in both Illinois and Florida, he regularly tries cases in the circuit and appellate courts that require the writing skills he acquired at Augustana.

As a way of saying "Thank You", his parents, Doug and Rorie, established a charitable remainder trust at Augustana. Not only does this provide income for their lifetime, but the remainder goes to Augustana to help future generations of students. Their gift has created a lasting legacy.

You can create such a legacy as a way of saying "Thank You" for the impact Augustana had on your life, or your family's lives, while creating income for yourself and a lasting legacy that will provide for future generations of Augustana students.
